Let’s make us – real us !!!

This is great!!!  Simply outstanding and laudable. This is going to bring a change – in society, in people, in attitude. Aamir Khan is back with his long standing favorite theme – Patriotism in “Satymev Jayate”.

With its first episode on Female Feticide, it has shown us the grim reality of the contemporary India which on one side, claims about becoming the fastest developing nation, while on other hand, doesn’t even understand the basic principles of morality and humanity. India, with the educated, but unconcerned Indians has although started to drive on the path of economic growth but the roots of its socio-political issues is still growing under the mud of superstitions, illiteracy, poverty and unemployment.

Female feticide is an immoral, unethical practice being followed in India for the last four to five decades. As explained in the episode, it started dominating after the doctors and volunteers favoring the family planning began convincing the parents to abort their child if the child is a girl. And see, what the logic was – Girls will be responsible for the population growth which is multiplying manifolds years by years.

On the first thoughts, it really looks like it can only be thought by some illiterate village person. But look who is behind this, an educated-employed-practicing doctor whose actual purpose is to save the lives. Now he is taking the lives, and that too of innocent children who haven’t even seen the first glimpse of the world. As we have already got the facts, not a single doctor practicing the child determination has been jailed. Neither punished, nor his license cancelled. He is still murdering the babies. He is still working against the society. And last, He is still free.

Aamir Khan , by bringing the social issues forward through this path breaking  program , deserves an applause. He made a sensitive case of female feticide an important one now. Every bit of awareness is now needed by us to control the situation. Now, we know the cause of the problem, the perpetrators of the problem, the prevalence areas of the problem and most importantly, the solution of the problem. There should not be any delay in setting up the fast track courts in Rajasthan and other states too for dealing with the cases of this heinous act. The onus is now on the government to sort out the cases. And not just sort out, but also monitor that judgment prevails.

Frankly speaking, it was a very risky decision that Aamir Khan took to take up this theme. But see, a new version of Patriotism is now being cherished after viewing the episode. He says – “what kind of Shinning India we want to see? How will our ancestors and freedom fighters feel when they will see this happening in their dream India?”.  All the interviews with the real affected people from the abuse, humiliation, actually strike the heart. They actually make us realize, we have forgot our India, our country while dealing with our own busy lives. Aamir Khan shows us not just the problem, but also manages to show us the way to eradicate the problem completely by his”Jaadoo ki Chhadi”. We all laugh collectively on the drastic failure of our policies, our police, our social rules, our constitution, and our leaders. Aamir Khan made us collectively weep on this now, which seriously was needed.  With all the proofs he showed along with the interviews, we can’t deny that there is an imperative need of a change in the outlook, the way we look our problems, and the ways we invent to solve them.  There is an urgent need to rethink about the strategy we are framing to tackle the social issues. Awareness is the mother of all the tactics, so creating this will throw much of our problems in the big damp pool.

It’s not the end in any way. We have a big responsibility now. Let’s cheer now; we have got something to work on. We have a chance to actively take part in the designing of a country which will have no women feticide, no poverty, and no unemployment. We have got an inspirational, motivational guru in the form of realization of the issues.
What now?? WE have been hearing all these for decades. No one comes to front. No one solves the problems. Isn’t it? I would rather say - We can come back now. We have the questions now. All we need is to find the answers. A lot is at stake. A lot has to be done. Let’s start one by one. Let’s make India. Let’s make ourselves, lets frames us - real us!!
